Mayfair Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade set for Nov. 19

This year’s parade theme is “Northeast Philadelphia: A Scouting Destination” honoring Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and the great tradition of scouting and the impact of the lives of young people through programs of character building, training to be a responsible citizen, and exceeding one’s own potential — to change the world.

The Mayfair Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade Committee is pleased to announce the 41st annual MH Thanksgiving Parade will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19. The rain date will be the following weekend, on Sunday, Nov. 26. from noon to 3 p.m. The parade route will be along Frankford Avenue.

This year’s parade theme is “Northeast Philadelphia: A Scouting Destination” honoring Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and the great tradition of scouting and the impact of the lives of young people through programs of character building, training to be a responsible citizen, and exceeding one’s own potential — to change the world. The scouts will be collecting non-perishable items so remember to bring anything you can to donate and help support a wonderful cause.

As in past years, there will be an announcer and a performance area at the intersection of Frankford Ave and Knorr St where participants will have the opportunity to perform for for the crowd. Also this year, the US Marine Corp will be collecting toys for less fortunate children for the Toys for Tots program at Knorr St. Lastly, children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa to be collected by Santa’s elves at the end of the parade.
