On Nov. 16, students from Memphis Street Academy Charter School in Port Richmond helped rake leaves and clean up Powers Park, along with members of the Friends of Powers Park. The park is located at Almond and Ann streets. This was part of the citywide “LOVE Your Park” day of service, during which many community groups gather in neighborhood parks to clean and care for the grounds.

On Nov. 21, several Rizzo PAL students competed in the PAL’s citywide chess competition finals at Temple University. From left to right, bottom row: Students Igli, a Rizzo PAL student, who took third place in the 12-and-under division, Zaire, who took 2nd place, and John, from Rizzo PAL, who took first in the 12-and-under division. More than 150 kids took part in the program, with 30 competing in the finals.
