Police have recovered a body found hanging from a tree in the problematic Cokies lot in Bridesburg on Sunday, Nov. 20.
According to Philadelphia police spokeswoman Christine O’Brien, at about 2:37 p.m. that day, police found the body in a wooded area of the site along the 2800 block of Lefevre Street. The body found at the Cokies site — a popular gathering destination for area teens — was hanging by the neck from a rope.
She said that the body appeared to be in an “advanced state of decomposition” and was “semi-skeletal” when it was removed from the lot.
Police said an autopsy may determine the cause of death, the person’s gender and how long the body was exposed to the elements.
Police are investigating the incident as a possible suicide, she said. ••
