With winter right around the corner, Rivers Casino, Operation Warm and numerous other organizations hosted an event for those in need at the Fillmore in Fishtown on Tuesday.

Groups that took part included Rivers Casino, Operation Warm, JEVS Human Services, Forman Mills, Hair Wizards, the Free Library of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Police Department.

Those in attendance were able to receive a wide variety of goods. Operation Warm provided over 300 free winter jackets, Forman Mills offered winter hats and scarves, Rivers gave out free baking dishes, JEVS distributed toys and books, and Hair Wizards offered haircuts free of charge.

In addition, Dunkin’ Donuts offered free coffee and hot chocolate and free food was provided by The Fresh Grocer.

Emily Dones, the community relations manager for Rivers, said she was very thankful for the collaborative effort that went into the event.

It takes everyone working together and having a common vision to help our fellow Philadelphians in need,” Dones said.
