Annual Italian festival
Mother of Divine Grace in Port Richmond continues its annual Italian Festival on June 7, 8 and 9 on the school grounds. Open at 4:30 p.m. with Italian dinners beginning in the school hall at 5 p.m. Food, games and a beer garden. Located at 2612 E. Monmouth St., at the corner of E. Cambria and E. Thompson streets. ••

Justice for Wayne Walk
At 10 a.m. on July 28, there will be a march in memory of Wayne Ellis. He was shot and killed while on his way home on July 28, 2002, at Belgrade Street and Frankford Avenue.
In the 10 years since his death the family claims they have no answers. The march hopes to break the silence. They seek 100 or more people to join in the walk. Everyone is welcome.
The walk will begin at Front and Spring Garden streets and head to Frankford Avenue at Belgrade St.
It costs $20 per person to participate in the walk and you will receive a bracelet and t-shirt. It will cost $30 to attend the beef and beer if you don’t participate in the memorial walk.
The family will be selling shirts, bracelets, raffle tickets and baskets.

The Festival de Bambulae
The Festival de Bambulae is a Puerto Rican garden celebration that will honor renowned Artist Pepon Osorio and community member Rosa Lopez for their impact on the Norris Square community.

Summer Youth Arts Workshop
Asian Arts Initiative, a community-based arts center, is seeking applications for its annual free Summer Youth Arts Workshop and Summer Youth Lounge.
The weekday workshop sessions are hosted at the Initiative’s headquarters in Chinatown (1219 Vine St.) from July 9 to August 17. Led by professional teaching artists who serve as mentors for youth interested in the arts, the sessions are free and open to Philadelphia public, private and charter school students in grades six through 12.

Gun Buy Back Program
On Saturday, June 30, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Kensington Ministry, 2140 N Hancock St., the 26th Police District is conducting a “Gun Buy Back Program” in order to increase safety.
The money gathered from businesses and elected officials will be used to buy gift cards to area food markets. Unloaded guns or rifles can be exchanged for a $100 dollar gift card, no questions asked. The money you donate will go directly to removing guns from our streets.

Customer appreciation day
At Sweets and Treats shop, 3138 Richmond St. June 16, noon until close. Because of community support, the shop was able to expand to now carry Hershey’s ice cream and an Asher’s chocolate counter. The shop will give every customer a free scoop of ice cream and samples of Asher’s chocolates and Jelly Belly jellybeans. ••
Join St. Anne’s choir
The music program at St. Anne’s Church, located at 2328 E. Lehigh Ave., is looking for choral singers to join the church’s festival choir. The choir will sing at the Solemn Closing of the Novena to St. Anne on Thursday, July 26 at 7 p.m.

NKCDC parklet meeting
The New Kensington Community Development Corperation will host a public meeting to discuss a proposal to install a parklet at 2311 Frankford Ave.
This meeting will be held Monday, June 11 at 6 p.m., at Circle of Hope Church, 2009 Frankford Ave.
The NKCDC said that the parklet would provide a space for passive recreation and be open to the public. It would be located in the parking lane at the above address and occupy one in street parking space.
