NKCDC job opportunity

New Kensington Community Development Corporation seeks an afternoon receptionist to answer and direct phone calls, greet and screen clients and visitors, enter data into client database and maintain housing counseling appointment schedules.

Receptionist will also support general office by receiving faxes, placing supply orders and making repair calls.

PAL selling Phillies tickets

Forty percent of each ticket purchase is donated back to PAL. Tickets can be purchased at PAL Headquarters, 2524 E. Clearfield St.

Franklin Towne Charter car show

Franklin Towne Charter High School’s first annual car show will be held Saturday, August 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Northeast Muscle Car Club and the Towne Parent Association.

To be held at Franklintowne Elementary at 4529 Richmond St. in the school gym and parking area.

For crafters and vendor registration, set up is 8 a.m. Cost is $25 for a table and chair in the air-conditioned gym. Car registration is $20.

All vendors are asked to donate an item for the raffle table. Please make checks payable to the Towne Parent Association and mail to 5301 Tacony St. Box 310, Philadelphia PA 19137. ••

Entertainment books available

Women’s Cancer Research Association is raising funds by selling the Entertainment Book 2013. Each book contains discount coupons on dining, shopping, travel, movies and more. Books are $30 and can be used immediately.

Proceeds benefit the Brady Cancer Research Institute at Hahnemann Hospital. To order, call 215–742–4939. Books are available through December 10. ••

Cione Playground activities

Cione Playground is offering various activities starting in the fall, including: an after school program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade; tumbling and gymnastics for ages 3 ½ and up; “Pee-Wee” soccer for ages 4 to 6; arts and crafts, and bicycle polo.

Spirit of Philadelphia lunch cruise

Join the Lutheran Settlement House seniors as they cruise the Delaware aboard The Spirit of Philadelphia on Friday, August 24. Lunch and entertainment costs $45.

The boarding is 11:30 a.m. and the boat will return at 2 p.m. Septa route 25 stops at Lombard Circle, where the boat is docked.
