Food drive for the needy
American Legion Post 821 is holding its annual food drive for the needy. All donations of canned goods, non-perishables for Thanksgiving baskets can be dropped off at 4404 Salmon St., Bridesburg, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays after 7 p.m. ••
St. John Cantius bazaar
The 31st annual St. John Cantius annual Chrismas Bazaar will be held Friday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 9 p.m. at 4435 Almond St.
Enjoy homemade Polish food, cake wheel, toys, sports items, gift basket auction, Christmas shop, raffles, pictures with Santa and more. ••
Franklin Towne Charter beef-and-beer
You’re invited to Franklin Towne Charter High School’s 10th annual beef-and-beer on Friday, Nov. 9, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cannstatter Ballroom, 9130 Academy Road.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Attendees can enjoy delicious food, beer, wine and live entertainment.
There will also be a cash bar and 50/50 raffles, along with an auction, gift baskets and other prizes. ••
FNA CPR class
The Fishtown Neighbors Association will offer a subsidized First Aid and CPR class on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec. Center, 1202 E. Montgomery Ave.
The certification will cover CPR, First Aid and AED, and will be valid for two years after the course is completed. Registration is limited to 12 people. The cost of the class is $90, but the FNA will subsidize half the cost, making your cost only $45. This will be payable by cash or check to the FNA. St. Michael’s flea market
St. Timothy’s COGIC International and St. Michael’s Lutheran Church will be having a flea market on Saturday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many gift items will be available to start your Christmas shopping early.

‘Food for Thought’ beef-and-beer
Come out for the first annual Bob Hartman “Food For Thought” beef-and-beer benefit for frontotemporal dementia research. Also known as Pick’s disease, frontotemporal dementia is similar to Alzheimer’s. This event is named for Robert “Bob” Hartman, a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather, a devoted uncle and a friend who would do anything for anyone.
At the event, listen to some great music, dine and perhaps win some fabulous prizes, all while donating to a charitable cause. All proceeds will go directly to The Association for Frontotemporal Dementia. This is event will be held Saturday, Nov. 10 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Fran Lee Caterers, 4556 Almond St.

Bridesburg Historical Society to meet
The next meeting of the Bridesburg Historical Society will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m, at All Saints’ Marian Hall, on the northwest corner of Edgemont and Buckius streets.

Texas Hold ’Em night
The Port Richmond Tigers will sponsor a Texas Hold ’Em poker tournament on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Polish American Club, Allegheny Avenue at Richmond Street. Tournament will start at 7 p.m., registration will start at 6 p.m. The buy-in is $30, with big cash prizes to the winners.

Penn Treaty ceremony
Chief Tamanend and William Penn made a peace treaty 330 years ago, and the symbol of the Delaware Nation is a turtle. A wooden turtle carved by Rodger Win will be placed under the bulletin board in Penn Treaty Park on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The park asks children to collect medium-sized stones now to make a rock garden for the turtle under the bulletin board.

Call for vendors for the Greensgrow holiday bazaar
The deadline to register as a vendor for Greensgrow Farms’ holiday bazaar is Nov. 17.
The bazaar, a neighborhood sale of crafts, gifts, food, and other holiday items, will take place at the farm, 2503 E. Firth St., on two weekends in December — Saturday, Dec. 8 and 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Greensgrow does not accept everyone who applies as a vendor; once you are accepted, the farm will send you an invoice for the fee. It does not accept vendors who are selling items that are not handmade or flea market resellers. Sign up at www.greensgrow.org. ••
