PRCG to meet

Rizzo PAL signups

The Rizzo PAL Center is offering instructional basketball for boys and girls ages 6–8, and girls’ in-house basketball for ages 9–12. Also, a wiffleball league for boys ages 9–13. Sign-ups are Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 25 and 26, from 4 to 8 p.m.

The Rizzo PAL Girls’ Positive Images Program, for ages 10–17, will have a registration night on Monday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Officer Ernie at 215–426–6583. ••

Fall Fest at Greensgrow

Join Subaru and Greensgrow Farms for a celebration of local food, crafts and farm fun. Sample local food, enjoy live music, vote in the chili competition, enjoy various crafts and vendors, visit the farmer’s market and bring the kids.

Locals to perform ‘Anything Goes’

Jardel Drama (Jardel Recreational Center, 1500 Cottman Ave.) presents the Cole Porter Musical, “Anything Goes,” on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.

Day of service at Hackett

Join Villanova, Friends of Hackett and Land Stewards, LLC at Hackett Elementary School on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a day of service. Help plant, weed, rake, etc. RSVP to info@friendsofhackett.org. Villanova will provide lunch for all volunteers that RSVP.

Also, give your input to help design the new Hackett school yard on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 2139 E. Cumberland St. ••

Scripture study at M.D.G.

The topic of Mother of Divine Grace’s fall scripture study will be “women of the Old Testament.” Join in on this 10-week study on Wednesday nights from tonight through Dec. 11, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost of the study is $12. Call 215–739–0353 to join. ••

St. John Cantius carnival

FNA Zoning to meet

The Fishtown Neighbors Association will discuss zoning issues at its meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.

Issues up for discussion: 2304 Mercer St., a proposal for an off-street parking space; and 1335–37 Frankford Ave., a proposal for a café, bakery and distillery in an industrial building. The meeting will take place at the Fishtown Rec. Center, 1202 E Montgomery Ave. ••

PROPAC and PRTW to meet

Port Richmond on Patrol and Civic and Port Richmond Town Watch will meet on Oct. 3, at Columbia Social Club, 3529 Almond St., at 6:30 p.m. Zoning issues at 2983 Richmond St., as well as the PennDOT I-95 Revive project, are on the agenda. ••

‘Blessing of the Animals’

St. Michael’s Lutheran Church will be offering a “Blessing of the Animals” worship service on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m.

Leashed pets or pets in a container can be brought to the church for blessing during this service.

October’s Second Saturday

October’s Second Saturday in Port Richmond will feature a pumpkin art contest and showcase. Join in on the fun on Oct. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m., on the 3100 block of Richmond St., between Allegheny Avenue and Clearfield St.

For children, bring a painted pumpkin to be showcased on Richmond Street the day of the event.

For adults, bring your creatively carved pumpkin to be judged in our ‘Best Pumpkin on Richmond St.’ contest.

St. Agnes-St. John festival

The Slovak RC Church of St. Agnes-St. John invites everyone to the celebration of its 106th anniversary at its annual festival on Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fourth and Brown streets.

Programs at Frank Glavin

Registrations for all programs are now being accepted. Enroll in insruction for children ages 3 and up in tap, jazz ballet and tumbling; Tae-Kwon-Do for ages 5 and older, and Zumba for ages 16 and older.

St. Anne’s ‘Coach Bingo’

The last St. Anne’s Coach Bingo, on Sept. 7, was a great success. The bag for the last game retailed at $899. For $30 admission, enjoy snacks, coffee and cake while you play bingo for Coach bags.
