The Riverfront North Partnership today announced the launch of a new initiative, the Bridesburg Impact Grants (BIG) program.

The program will award $500 grants to fund creative and impactful projects in Bridesburg.

Applications may be submitted by anyone in the 19137 ZIP code from March 1 to Aug. 1, with grants being awarded during the same timeframe on a rolling basis.

Up to 30 grants will be distributed.

Projects should provide an opportunity for residents to interact with nature and each other.

Categories for potential projects should fall under outdoor- or nature-based, intergenerational, or community-building activities.

“There are so many great things happening in Bridesburg right now, and we know there are more interesting ideas out there. We are excited to help make some of those visions a reality with our neighbors,” said Gina Craigo, community engagement manager at Riverfront North Partnership.

Projects must be implemented within three months of acceptance.

The BIG grant program is made possible by the Riverfront North Partnership and the Bridesburg Community Advisory Committee, with funding from the William Penn Foundation in conjunction with the development of the 10-acre riverfront park in Bridesburg at Orthodox Street and Delaware Avenue.

“Our hope is that this program will bring people in Bridesburg outside to talk and enjoy their community together,” said Stephanie Phillips, executive director at Riverfront North Partnership.  “These neighborhood connections are going to make the new Bridesburg Riverfront Park great when it opens, and will help us plan for activities that people will come out to enjoy.”
