Wokworks opens in Fishtown, 10th location in all

Wokworks is now open in Fishtown after the grand opening of its new flagship take-out-delivery restaurant. The new location, the 10th for husband-and-wife owners Brennan and Samantha Foxman, features the largest menu yet for the chain.

When he was still in college, Brennan traveled abroad, and fell in love with Southeast Asian street food culture, particularly fast casual restaurants that centered around wok cooking. When he returned to America, Brennan sought out investors, founded Wokworks and opened a Rittenhouse location in 2013. Later he would launch other locations and sites that includes trucks, carts, grocery locations and franchise locations.

Wokworks is available for delivery and pick-up across Philadelphia and beyond.

The Fishtown flagship is located at the newly painted and renovated exterior of what was formerly Pizza A Pie, 1429 Marlborough St. (at Frankford Avenue).

Located across the famous Welcome to Fishtown mural, customers will spot the bright signature pink branding and letters going north on Frankford Avenue.

“We have lived in Fishtown for seven years and this neighborhood is our home – we love everything about it,” Brennan said. “We have wanted to open here for several years, and when the opportunity came up to open right along the red-hot Frankford Avenue restaurant row, we jumped on it. With this location, this completes our master plan for expansion across the city.”

Fishtown managing partner Sidney Cooper and the Foxmans announced that the new flagship for Wokworks will have an expanded menu.

Wokworks offers a healthier alternative to standard takeout Chinese food using the freshest ingredients and housemade sauces. The wok cooking method flash sears ingredients and produces a smokey flavor while locking in nutrients and removing the need for excess oils or additives. Everything on the menu is fresh, made with clean ingredients, and 100% halal.

The average cook time per bowl is 90 seconds, making it possible to serve high-traffic areas well. The menu caters to selective eaters with vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, halal, spicy and keto options.

“With our new flagship location in Fishtown comes our largest menu ever – and the debut of Bento Boxes,” Brennan said. “We also expanded our gluten-free and vegan selections based on customer demand. We’ll have more new offerings later this spring, plus the debut of a new ‘wokbot’ that makes your meal to perfection.”
